Privacy Policy

SpottID LLC
Last updated: June 1, 2026
Effective: June 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SpottID LLC ("SpottID," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the SpottID mobile application and our websites at getspottid.com (together, the "Services"). SpottID is a proximity-based platform for car culture: people who notice cars ("SpottIRs") can discover beacon-enabled vehicles nearby, photograph them, and submit those photos to the vehicle owner, who decides whether to add them to their gallery and the community feed.

The Services are intended for users in the United States. By using SpottID, you agree to this Policy.

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information. When you create an account, we collect information such as your name or username, email address, and password credentials.
  • Vehicle information (owners). If you register a vehicle, we collect the details you choose to add, such as make, model, year, description, and the unique identifier of the beacon associated with your vehicle.
  • Photos and media. When you capture or upload a photo, we collect that media and any caption or notes you add.
  • Communications. If you contact us or sign up for a waitlist, we collect the information you submit, such as your email address and message.

Information collected automatically

  • Beacon detections. When the app scans for nearby SpottID beacons, it detects the beacon's broadcast identifier. This is how the app knows a registered vehicle is nearby and lets you save it. The app does not record your geographic location in order to detect or save a beacon.
  • Device and usage information. We may collect basic technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, and activity within the app needed to operate and troubleshoot the Services.

How we use information

  • To operate the core experience: detecting nearby beacons, saving vehicles, and uploading photos.
  • To route submitted photos to the correct vehicle owner for review.
  • To let owners approve, reject, and manage photos, and to populate owner galleries and the community feed with approved content.
  • To create and manage your account, and to communicate with you about the Services.
  • To maintain, secure, and improve the Services and troubleshoot problems.
  • To comply with law and enforce our terms.

Owner review and consent

Photos submitted by a SpottIR are not public by default. A submitted photo goes to the vehicle owner in a pending state. The owner chooses whether to approve it, reject it, or report it. Only photos an owner approves appear in that owner's gallery, and only content shared to the feed appears in the community feed. A public share page for a photo is generated when someone taps Share, not automatically.

Photos that include other people or property

Photos of vehicles taken in public may incidentally include people, license plates, or surroundings. Do not upload photos you do not have the right to share, and do not use the Services to harass, track, or identify individuals. If you believe a photo of you or your property was shared improperly, contact us using the details below and we will review it.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We share information only in these limited ways:

  • Within the Services as intended. A SpottIR's submitted photo and chosen display name are shared with the relevant vehicle owner. Approved photos and the associated SpottIR credit may be shown in owner galleries, the community feed, and on public share pages when shared.
  • Service providers. We use third-party vendors to run the Services, in categories such as cloud hosting and database storage, file and image storage, push-notification delivery, text-message delivery, and payment and subscription processing handled through our commerce partner. These providers may process information only to perform services for us.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of SpottID, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers. If SpottID is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Payments and subscriptions

Beacons and subscriptions are sold through our website and managed by our commerce partner. Payment card details are handled by that partner and its payment processor; SpottID does not store full payment card numbers. The commerce partner's processing of your payment information is governed by its own terms and privacy practices.

Data retention

  • Rejected or unapproved photos. Deleted within 30 days of rejection.
  • Approved photos. Kept until the owner deletes them or closes the account.
  • Account information. Kept while your account is active. We retain it until you ask us to delete your account.
  • Other information. Kept only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law.

Your choices and rights

You can review and update your account and vehicle information in the app. You can request that we delete your account and associated personal information by contacting us.

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no need to opt out of those activities. To exercise your rights, contact us using the details below. We will not deny you service or charge you a different price for making a request.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable measures designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated through the app or by other means.
